The University of Salford grew out of the Royal Technical Institute, which was opened by the Duke and Duchess of York (who later became King George V and Queen Mary) in 1896. Established then to equip working people with the knowledge and skills they needed to succeed in the emerging industries, now in the 21st century our aim remains the same:
“By pioneering exceptional industry partnerships, we will lead the way in real world experiences preparing students for life”
Today the University has a successful global presence and a turnover of £189m. Our 7 schools, 20,000 students and 2,500 staff have all grown to serve the needs of industry, commerce and education.
Salford is part of Greater Manchester; a thriving, diverse city-region in the North West of England bursting with a strong industrial and entrepreneurial spirit.
Salford University Business School
At Salford Business School we have a clear vision “to excel as an industry focused business school, with a global outlook, known for exceptional applied knowledge creation and exchange”.
We are committed to developing business leaders and managers that are equipped for next-generation practice in the global marketplace. The contemporary business world operates on an increasingly global scale and this agenda sits at the very heart of how Salford Business School engages with its students and partner organisations.
We have strong links with small and medium-sized organisations and count international businesses such as Siemens and Jaguar Land Rover among our partners. These industry partnerships inform our students’ learning, drive our research and influence our academic staff so we can challenge our students (and our academics!) to be ready for the future.
